Mapping Exiled Media: Structures and Revenue Models

The global funding crisis of 2025 has deepened existing challenges for exiled media, increasing the need for sustainable revenue models and diversified income sources. This survey is part of a research project that analyses current media models, funding practices, and monetisation tools used by exiled newsrooms.

Your responses help us identify effective approaches and gaps in sustainability strategies. The results of this survey, together with follow-up interviews, will be used to develop a practical toolkit for media managers and fundraisers working in exile.

This research is conducted by the Berlin-based non-profit Exile Media Hub jinn gGmbH, within a consortium of civil society and media organizations “Freedom Media Hub East” led by the Prague Civil Society Center and funded by the European Union.
